This would cost you 1% of the total cost of all your belongings. For example, if you declared a total of $30,000, you are to pay $300 premium. Some arrangements you should take note is that it is the moving company’s call if they will replace or pay in the same value the destroyed or lost item. 

Released Value Protection: This insurance won’t cost you as it is offered by all moving companies as a part of the deal. In this kind of insurance, the company assures you that in any item lost or damaged, you will be compensated for 60 cents per pound per article. For instance, your 50-pound item was damaged; hence, you will get a $30 compensation for the impairment.

Other types of insurance: If you are moving items of great value such as jewelries, antiques, paintings and other items with $100 or higher estimated value, declare it to your moving company because that would need another kind of insurance. You may also opt for a third party insurance of your choice or provided by the company. Talk to your agent on what coverage you will get.
